Dei is one of the protagonists of Lufia: The Legend Returns. He is a nice yet unlucky thief who gives all the money he steals to the poor of his hometown in Majiri. Loyal to the end, Dei would give up his own life to save that of a friend, but would rather look for treasure than fight. Wain and Seena are given a task by a wealthy person known as Fugo in Albano to capture the thief that stole money from his mansion. However, when they defeat and kill his pet monster that had wandered into Majiri, Fugo decides to use their reward to replace his pet later on and Dei goes with Fugo. Wain and Seena later rescue Dei from Fugo's other pet monster, who eats gold, at the request of the villagers. After watching Gades destroy Fugo's second house, much to Fugo's fear of losing his own house afterwards and defeating their party, Dei decides to join Wain and Seena in their quest to defeat the Sinistrals.

Dei has the typical rogue/thief stats by being the quickest party member in the game, while his other stats are considered average.
