Lufia (ルフィア) is a major character in Lufia & the Fortress of Doom. She's the highly insecure eternal partner of the Hero and also (allegedly) the first reincarnation of Erim.

Profile[]

Lufia is one of the first characters to join Maxim's descendant. She is a mysterious orphan girl who came to live in Alekia, the Hero's hometown, and was his childhood friend and love interest. During the quest, she eventually discovers she is truly Erim, one of the four Sinistrals, and temporarily joins them. However, before the heroes defeat the Sinistrals once and for all, she returns to the Hero's side and helps in the battle against Guard Daos. She then falls off of Doom Island, seemingly dead, only to return a year later, but with no memories of her past life and none of her magic powers.

Appearance[]

Lufia & the Fortress of Doom[]

Lufia has long, blue-black hair and wears a pale green and white dress. Her physical appearance and clothing serve as hints that she is connected with Erim.

Other[]

Lufia makes a brief cameo at the very end of Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals, the ending of Energy Breaker, and in the opening of Lufia: The Legend Returns.

Personality[]

Lufia is a gentle girl who lives with Roman at the inn, after losing her parents as a child, having no memories of them.

She's very jealous of the Hero, often butting heads when other girls are interested in him, such as Jerin.

While she won't pass up a chance to bully other girls so she's the sole person to get the Hero's attention, she also realizes that the Hero is as dense as a bag of bricks and often realizes that her efforts in flirting with him is futile at best.

She's shown to be hospitable towards people she consider friends but she's usually insecure in herself, worrying that the Hero will like someone else instead of her.

Lufia is also shown to get irritated when the Hero states that [he] has not paid her much attention, seemingly taking it as an insult.

Overall, she's a fairly typical sixteen year old girl in love.

Gameplay[]

Lufia is weak physically and has low defense. However, she compensates with strong offensive magic, including lightning, water, and explosion magic, and spells that can cause instant death.

Story[]

Early Game[]

Lufia meets with the Hero as a child, being seven years old. She wants to play with him and he agrees.

Nine years later, she plans on making him a pie and some cinnamon tea, but after finding out that she leaves, she gets furious and refuses to speak with the Hero until he leaves towards the north. She joins him at this point and doesn't leave his side for most of the game.

Upon meeting Gades, Lufia briefly leaves and the Hero does battle on his own against Gades, but fails. Gades, upon seeing her, realizes her real identity before leaving.

Lufia and the Hero sets out together to do battle against the Sinistrals, to defeat them just like Maxim had done, 99 years prior.

During their journey, they meet with Aguro, who agrees to join them in their battle. After seeing how simple minded Aguro is, Lufia worries if they'll be fine.

Midgame[]

Upon meeting and joining Jerin, Lufia's jealous side shows up and the two women tend to bicker about the Hero's attention. Lufia also calls Jerin a "Slime elf" after finding out that Jerin had eaten slime, causing Jerin to cry. After being scolded by the Hero, Lufia merely scoffs and asks why he won't pay her the same kind of attention.

After finding out that there's an item to make hair more beautiful, Jerin asks if the Hero likes it. Lufia instantly butts in and asks if the Hero would like Lufia's hair if it was longer, making the Hero merely reply with "[him] not paying [Lufia's] hair much attention." Lufia, again, is irritated at this.

Despite their arguments, the four of them continue on their journey to find the Dual Blade to once more do battle with the Sinistrals.

Atop one of the towers, Daos reveals that Erim was reborn sixteen years prior - and is in reality Lufia. And as long as Lufia/Erim is alive, the four Sinistrals can never die - being the Mistress of Death, she can revive the other three.

Endgame[]

After finding out her true self, Lufia leaves the Hero and re-joins the other three Sinistrals.

Upon reaching Doom Castle, just like Maxim had done 99 years ago together with his three allies, the Hero, Aguro and Jerin enter and does battle against Gades, Amon and Daos, defeating three of the four Sinistrals. Daos then tries to merge with the three Sinistrals but the Dual Blade prevents Lufia from joining them. Instead, she breaks free and joins the Hero for one final battle.

After the battle, Lufia lays on the crystal floor and asks if she'll be with the Hero for a long time. He says that they will and she smiles before falling down, seemingly to her death.

One year later, the Hero is travelling the world and comes to a small town where Priphea flowers bloom. Much to his shock, Lufia is there.

Lufia, however, has no memory of him and simply lives there with her "grandfather". Upon meeting the Hero, she asks for him to tell her about the outside world, as she hasn't seen much outside of the village. Making some cinnamon tea, the Hero joins his old friend and her new grandfather for some tea, telling her all about his travels.
